An active and vibrant Eco-Club is functioning in the college for creating awareness on various ecological issues and to take actions to improve the natural environment. Activities such as celebration of various environmentally-related days, cleanliness drives in premises and adjoining areas, plantation drives in the nearby areas, quizzes, exhibitions and competitions are organised throughout the year with a financial support from the Himachal Council for Science Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE). Eco-Club also provides opportunities to the young minds to become responsible and inspiring environmental leaders of tomorrow. Eco-Club members also participates in Swachh Bharath Abhiyan campaign of the Government of India.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- To create awareness amongst the students and society on current environmental issues
- To motivate the students to keep their surroundings clean and green
- To instill a sense of responsibility in the students for the natural environment and a personal commitment to protect and preserve it for the future generations
- To work for the maintenance of green cover in and around Shimla through annual plantation drives
- To create awareness on biodiversity, natural resources and their conservation
- To create awareness about the harmful effects of plastics on our environment and to sensitize the students to segregate the plastic waste from other biodegradable waste
- To create awareness on climate change and human survival
- To motivate the students to conserve water through minimal use
- To motivate the students to adopt a lifestyle with minimum waste generation
