Earth Day Observance 22nd April 2026
On 22 April 2026, RKMV Shimla observed Earth Day with a profound sense of responsibility under the global theme Our Power, Our Planet." The observance aimed to promote environmental consciousness and encourage students to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.
The programme began with an inspiring and impactful address by the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena. In her address, the Principal poignantly connected the Earth's health to the human heart, emphasizing that environmental protection is not merely a choice but a moral imperative. She also urged the audience to harness their strength to adopt sustainable lifestyles and make responsible choices that support an eco-friendly way of living.</p>
Following the Principal's Address, a series of activities was organized. One of the key highlights was an exhibition of articles prepared from waste materials, where students displayed innovative and useful products made out of discarded items, promoting the message of recycling and responsible waste management.
An oath to protect the environment by adopting sustainable practices was also taken by the faculty members and students.
The programme concluded with a cleanliness drive conducted by the students of Sainik Hostel, RKMV. By clearing debris and waste from the local water resource (Bawadi), the team demonstrated their strong sense of responsibility and commitment towards environmental conservation.
The programme was attended by all the faculty members and postgraduate students from the Departments of Geography, Commerce, Political Science, History, and English.
The Earth Day observance reinforced the importance of sustainable living and strengthened the commitment of students and faculty members towards environmental conservation.
