A New Perspective to Learning
The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Department of B.Voc (Retail Management), RKMV Shimla, successfully organized a Project-Based Learning (PBL) Presentation Session in Room No. 12 from 11:00 AM onwards. The event aimed to promote interdisciplinary and experiential learning by encouraging students to work collaboratively on real-world projects that integrate academic knowledge with practical application.
A total of five groups, comprising students from B.Com 3rd Year and B.Voc 3rd Year, presented innovative and research-oriented projects on contemporary themes such as Cultural Entrepreneurship, Women Entrepreneurship, and Case Studies from the business and retail sectors.
The project titles were as follows:
-> Group 1: Roommania (Room Finder Website)
-> Group 2: Campus Connect (College Website Link)
-> Group 3: A Comparative Study on Local Vendors and Chain Stores – A Consumer Preference Perspective
->Group 4: A Case Study on Himachali Raso
->Group 5: Women Entrepreneurship in and Around Shimla – Five Women Entrepreneurs
The session was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV Shimla, as the Chief Guest. In her address, Dr. Saxena appreciated the students for their creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. She emphasized that Project-Based Learning is an effective pedagogical approach that connects classroom concepts with practical business scenarios, fostering analytical and entrepreneurial skills among students.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of around 130 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The presentations were evaluated and appreciated by the faculty members present, including Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Dr. Munish Sharma, Ms. Shivani Sood, Ms. Reeta Bhardwaj, and Ms. Harsha from the Department of Commerce, and Mr. Anupam from the Department of B.Voc.
The session concluded with interactive discussions and valuable feedback from the faculty, which encouraged students to refine their ideas and continue exploring innovative business models. The event successfully showcased the spirit of collaboration and practical learning that RKMV strives to nurture among its students.
