The Women Cell of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla organized a meaningful community outreach activity under its “Share and Care” initiative on 12th May 2026. The outreach activity aimed at extending support to the underprivileged section of society.

Himalayan Bird Count (9th May 2026)

The Bird Walk and Bird Talk activity was organised by Tragopan Society, RKMV, Shimla on 9th May 2026 on the occasion of Himalayan Bird Count Day as part of the observance of World Endemic Bird Day organised by Bird Count India in association with Cornell University, USA. Eighty-three birders from RKMV, Auckland House School for Boys, Government College, Theog took part in the event.

MoU signed with INTERNEXUS Lucknow

RKMV signs MoU with INTERNEXUS Lucknow (24 April 2026 ) Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INTERNEXUS, Lucknow, to promote academic excellence and skill development among students. The collaboration will focus on : Academic Enrichment : Expert-led seminars and webinars Skill Development : Debate and communication workshops to enhance personality and leadership skills.

Earth Day Observance 2026

On 22 April 2026, RKMV Shimla observed Earth Day with a profound sense of responsibility under the global theme "Our Power, Our Planet." The observance aimed to promote environmental consciousness and encourage students to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly practices in their daily life.

Guest Talk organised by the Department of History

Guest Talk organised by the Department of History The Department of History(RKMV) organised an academically enriching guest talk for PG students on the topic “The Indian Himalayas and Tibet” on 22nd April 2026. The session was conducted by Mr. Tenzin Tsundue - a writer, a researcher and an activist for the Tibetan cause. The talk was delivered with the help of well-prepared slide presentation, which made the session highly engaging and visually impactful.

MoU Signed with Orbit Biotech, Mohali

MoU Signed for Academic Excellence On 22 April, 2026, Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, through its Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Orbit Biotech, Mohali, a reputed research organization in the field of Biosciences. It was signed by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV and Ms. Upasna, HR, Orbit Biotech, Mohali in the presence of Ms. Kartik S M Chauhan, Dean Sciences, Dr. Nidhi Dhatwalia, Coordinator Biotechnology and Microbiology and the faculty members of the department.

Industrial Visit to dusitD2 Fagu, Shimla for B.Voc Hospitality and Tourism Management students

An industrial visit was organised for 31 first-year B.Voc students of Hospitality and Tourism Management on 13th April 2026 to dusitD2 Fagu, an international hotel chain and five-star luxury property. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience of the four major hotel departments: Front Office Operations, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage Service, and Food Production.

Educational Tour to Kangra & Dharamshala

(10th–13th April 2026) A group of 39 postgraduate students from the departments of English, History, Political Science, Geography, and Commerce undertook an educational tour to Kangra and nearby areas.

Empowering Communication Skills: Lectures and Interactive sessions conducted for PG students

To enhance the communication abilities of students and prepare them for future academic and professional challenges, a progressive initiative titled “Empowering Communication Skills” was undertaken by the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena. Under this initiative, a series of lectures and interactive sessions were conducted for the Post Graduate students ( 4th Semester) of the Department of English and the Department of Geography from 30th March to 2nd April 2026.
