Celebration of World Ozone Day 2026. 16 September,2026
On the eve of World Ozone Day, 16 September 2026, the Departments of Chemistry and Botany organised a series of activities to commemorate the day and create awareness among students about the significance of the ozone layer and its role in protecting life on Earth.
The event was graced by the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena. Addressing the students the Principal emphasised that protecting the ozone layer is not merely an environmental responsibility but a collective responsibility towards the health and well-being of future generations. She encouraged the students to carry the message of; "Heal the Ozone, Heal the Planet" beyond the campus and inspire others to contribute towards a healthier, safer and more sustainable planet.
As part of the programme, Anushka Rani, a student of B.Sc. 1st Year, and Palak, a student of B.Sc. 3rd Year, delivered informative PowerPoint presentations on the theme of Ozone Day. The presentations focused on the importance of the ozone layer, the threats posed by ozone-depleting substances, and the need for its protection.
This was followed by the screening of an informative documentary on the ozone layer, which highlighted its ecological importance and its vital role in safeguarding human life and the environment from harmful ultraviolet radiation.
An awareness rally was subsequently flagged off by the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena. Students actively participated in the rally and carried messages highlighting the importance of ozone protection and the need for collective efforts to ensure the well-being of the Earth. The rally proceeded throughout the campus, spreading awareness among the college community. Approximately111 students participated in the programme.
