HIV/AIDS Awareness and Training Programme – DDU Zonal Hospital, Shimla 22nd September 2026
Three students of RKMV, Prakriti Sharma and Muskan Negi (B.Sc. 2nd Year) and Nancy Verma (B.Sc. 1st Year)—attended an HIV/AIDS awareness and training programme at DDU Zonal Hospital, Shimla, accompanied by Dr. Nidhi Dhatwalia, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club, RKMV, Shimla.
The programme was addressed by Dr. Vineet Lakhanpal, District Tuberculosis Officer, Shimla, who spoke about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of awareness and prevention. Dr. Tahseen, DAPO, Shimla, provided comprehensive training on HIV/AIDS, its modes of transmission, symptoms, prevention, and other important aspects. Dr. Vimal Bharti from IGMC, Shimla, was also present and contributed to the training programme.

The programme concluded with the remarks of Dr. Yashpal Ranta, CMO, Shimla, who emphasized the importance of awareness, prevention, and responsible health practices.
The students also visited the ICTC Centre, where they gained practical insight into HIV testing and counselling services. The three students were trained as Peer Educators to promote accurate HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention among their fellow students.
