Pre-Admission Counselling in Schools 15 to 22 December 2025

RKMV organized Pre-Admission Counselling sessions in various senior secondary schools in and around Shimla with the objective of guiding students about higher education opportunities and facilitating a smooth transition from school to college. These counselling sessions took place between 15th to 22nd December 2025. The initiative aimed at creating awareness about undergraduate programmes offered by RKMV and motivating young learners to pursue higher education in RKMV with confidence and clarity.

HPU Inter-College Women’s Cricket Championship 2025 15 to 18 December

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya hosted the Himachal Pradesh University Inter-College Women's Cricket Championship from 15 to 18 December 2025 at the Police Ground, Bharari. The Opening Ceremony was graced by Dr. Gopal Chauhan, President, Executive Board, HPU Sports & Cultural Activities Committee ( S and CAC), and Principal, Rajiv Gandhi Government Degree College, Chaura Maidan, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Chauhan stressed the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and team spirit, encouraging young women to actively participate in sports. The championship witnessed participation from six teams comprising 90 girl players representing various colleges across the state. The smooth conduct of the tournament was ensured by the official staff from HPU, Shimla, Dr. Vikrant Bhardwaj (Observer), Mr. Pushpinder Thakur and Mr. Nitu Thakur (Umpires), and Mr. Ankush Gautam (Scorer). The results of the tournament were : First Position: MCM DAV College, Kangra Second Position: Government College, Dharamshala Third Position: Government College, Rampur Player of the Match was Ms Sonal Thakur (DAV Kangra) and Player of the series was Ms Kashika Thakur (G C Dharamshala) Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV, stated that sports empower women to prove their prowess not only on the field but also in the competitive world beyond, fostering confidence, leadership, and resilience. The Closing Ceremony was presided over by former IAS officer Shri Shrinivas Joshi, who emphasized the need to adopt fitness, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle, highlighting the role of sports in shaping confident and resilient individuals. The event was a celebration of sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork promoting competitive spirit and physical fitness among girl students.

Awareness on HIV/AIDS 8th December, 2025

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) organised an HIV/AIDS awareness program on 8th December. The session was facilitated by Dr Yashpal Ranta, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and DAPO, and had Ms Ramender Sharma, Master Trainer and ICTC Counsellor from DDU, as the guest speaker. Ms Ramender Sharma spoke extensively on the key themes of awareness, prevention, and zero discrimination related to HIV/AIDS. She shared insights and real-life experiences from her interactions with youth, helping students understand accurate information about HIV/AIDS and the social stigma often associated with it. She emphasised that such personal narratives help young audiences connect with the realities of the disease, encouraging them to adopt preventive measures and develop empathy toward affected individuals. Principal Dr Anurita Saxena motivated the students with her encouraging words, while RRC Convener Dr Luxmi Sindhu proposed the vote of thanks. The event also included the felicitation of various student prize winners from earlier RRC activities conducted in the college.

Advanced Leadership Programme 8th December 2025

RKMV had the honour of hosting an insightful session under the Advanced Leadership Programme, an initiative aimed at strengthening leadership, deepening understanding of governance, and fostering academic innovation. The session was graced by Ms Aarushi Jain, Policy Director & Head, Government Affairs, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business, Mohali. In her engaging address, she highlighted the importance of a continuous learning cycle, especially for educators. She encouraged teachers to move beyond their subject boundaries and contribute holistically to students ' growth. Ms Jain also shared inspiring real-life examples of octogenarians who continue to teach and learn, reminding us that learning truly has no age limit. Following her talk, Principal Dr Anurita Saxena delivered an insightful address on RKMV’s journey, highlighting the new initiatives undertaken to strengthen the institution and empower students. She also interacted with participants from Goa, addressing queries on fund management, best practices, alumni engagement, and more. This enriching interactive session was organised by IQAC, RKMV, with ISB serving as a valuable mediator, bringing together senior educators from across states and fostering meaningful dialogue.

47th Annual Prize Distribution 5th December 2025

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya held its 47th Annual Prize Distribution function on 5th December 2025. The institution was honoured by the presence of the Honourable Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Shiv Pratap Shukla Ji, who attended as the Chief Guest, accompanied by the First Lady, Smt. Janki Shukla Ji, Chairperson, State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section. The NCC cadets extended a respectful Guard of Honour to welcome the distinguished guests. Several eminent dignitaries also graced the occasion, including Secretary to the Governor Sh. CP Verma, IPS Sh. Dattatreya Verma, ASP, Ms Meher, SDM (Urban), Ms Oshin Sharma, Councillor, Ms Meenu Chauhan, Mr Anil Lakhan Pal, and Associate Professor Deepak Kaprete. The Principal, Dr Anurita Saxena, presented the Annual Report, highlighting the significant academic, cultural, and extracurricular achievements of the students, along with the institution's future goals. In his address, the Hon’ble Governor stressed India’s strong emergence as a global superpower, the urgent need to combat drug abuse, and the importance of adopting modern developments while upholding traditional values. He encouraged the young women of RKMV to participate in the nation's progress rather than remain silent observers of societal change. A total of 194 prizes were awarded to students for outstanding performance in Academics, Sports, Cultural Activities, and various Clubs and Societies. Additionally, 11 students received the Nidhi Lakhanpal Scholarship in recognition of their merit and need. The event featured a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak on social awareness (regarding drugs) and captivating dance performances celebrating womanhood and India’s cultural heritage. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by the DSW, Dr Surinder Sharma, followed by the National Anthem, marking a dignified and inspiring end to the day's proceedings. ''
