Celebration of National Sports Day On 29th August 2025

RKMV celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2025 with great enthusiasm, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The event, organized by the Department of Physical Education, aimed to promote fitness, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among students and faculty members. Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal of the college, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasized the importance of National Sports Day in honoring Major Dhyan Chand legacy and highlighted the role of sports in building discipline leading to holistic development. She encouraged students to embrace sports with dedication and team spirit. The celebration featured a range of indoor and outdoor events including Cross Country, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Tug of War, and Ball Relay. Inter-faculty competitions and enthusiastic participation from teachers in events like Tug of War and Ball Relay added to the excitement. The event concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners. With participation from over 2000 students and faculty members, the celebration stood out as one of the largest sporting gatherings in the college history, reflecting RKMV’s vibrant and inclusive sporting culture.

Awareness Rally on AIDS On 28th August 2025

The Red Ribbon Club of RKMV organized an Awareness Rally on AIDS on 28th August 2025, aiming to educate the people about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and to reduce the stigma surrounding the disease. Flagged off at 9:00 AM from the RKMV campus, the rally proceeded to the Ridge and returned back to the college. Students participated enthusiastically, carrying posters and placards and chanting slogans that raised awareness, emphasised safe practices, and empathy for those living with HIV/AIDS. Their spirited involvement captured public attention along the route. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Laxmi Sandhu, Convener of the Red Ribbon Club, with the support of Ms. Versha Devi, Dr. Jitendar, and Mr. Veer Chand. They encouraged the students and highlighted the vital role of youth in building a well-informed and compassionate society.

Group Discussion On 21st August 2025

On 21st August 2025 the Department of Retail Management (B.Voc.) and the Department of Biotechnology Microbiology came together to organize an engaging Group Discussion session in the college auditorium. With 55 enthusiastic participants and the guidance of faculty members, students shared views on diverse topicsn ranging from the current education system to the importance of skill-based learning. The activity not only sharpened their clarity of thought but also boosted confidence for future career opportunities, where group discussions often play a key role. The session concluded with active participation and positive feedback, leaving everyone inspired and motivated!

The Department of BVoc Hospitality and Tourism Management organized a guest lecture on Soft skills, stress management and career growth in hospitality industry (27-08-2025). The lecture was delivered by Ms. Ayushi Verma, Restaurant General Manager at Four Season Hotel in London , who shared valuable insights of Hospitality industry to the students. This interactive session engaged students in valuable discussions, making it both informative and inspiring. We thank our worthy Principal mam for allowing us to execute this session for our hospitality students.

An interactive session was organized by the Department of Commerce with Dr. Sunny Vijay Arora, Associate Professor of Marketing, S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai, and Dr. Ester from Hungary, on 27th August 2025. The session provided valuable insights into global perspectives of marketing, research, and academia. Both speakers engaged the students in thought-provoking discussions, enhancing their understanding of contemporary issues in business and commerce. The program was well-received by the students who actively interacted with the guests. It proved to be an enriching academic experience, broadening the horizons of young learners.

The Campus Mitra Badge Ceremony was held at Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV) with great enthusiasm and a strong spirit of responsibility among the students. The event aimed to formally recognize and empower selected students as Campus Mitras, who will serve as peer facilitators and student ambassadors within the college. The ceremony was graced by the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena who distributed badges to the newly appointed Campus Mitras. In her address, Dr. Saxena commended the students for taking on this important role and highlighted the significance of peer support, leadership, and proactive student engagement in building a positive campus environment. Special Lecture on GST & Women Empowerment 22nd August 2025

The department of Commerece organized a thought-provoking lecture on 22nd August 2025, focusing on the themes of GST (Goods and Services Tax) and Women Empowerment. Ms. Poonam Thakur, Assistant Commissioner, State Taxes & Excise Department, was the honourable keynote speaker. She delivered an insightful session on the GST Act, its key provisions, and its role in fostering transparency and good governance in both trade and society. The session also powerfully highlighted the significance of women empowerment, encouraging students especially young women to embrace education, self-confidence, and leadership as tools for meaningful societal contribution. The Chief Guest of the event, Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena, inspired the audience with her speech and emphasized that awareness about taxation and empowering women are both vital for nation-building, and urged students to become responsible, self-reliant citizens. Nearly 150 Students from M.Com and B.Com enthusiastically participated in the lecture and walked away, informed and inspired.

"Road Safety Begins With Us" Pledge & Orientation Program 21st August, 2025

To promote a culture of responsible road usage, the Road Safety Club of RKMV successfully organized an Orientation Programme and Oath-Taking Ceremony on campus. The event aimed to educate and inspire newly enrolled student volunteers about traffic rules, safe driving practices, and their critical role as responsible road users and Good Samaritans. The program was convened by Prof. Geeta Sharma, Convener of the Road Safety Club, and was graced by the presence of Worthy Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, along with esteemed faculty members, students, and staff. A powerful Road Safety Pledge was also taken by around 150 students, faculty, and non-teaching staff, reinforcing our shared commitment to road safety. The Principal, in her address, emphasized that road safety is not just a rule — it is a civic duty and a moral responsibility. Her words served as a call to action for all to uphold safe road behaviour in daily life. Let us all strive to be ambassadors of change and ensure that every ride is a safe one. Fit to Win: Pathway to Sports Excellence from 18th to 28th August 2025

The Department of Physical Education, in collaboration with the Department of Home Science, successfully initiated a fitness camp titled Fit to Win: Pathway to Sports Excellence; from 18th to 28th August 2025. This initiative is designed to foster a culture of health, discipline, and sporting excellence among students. With the enthusiastic participation of 50 girls, the camp focuses on promoting physical fitness and identifying promising sports talent in ourgirls. The programme serves as a platform to empower young athletes, encouraging them to pursue excellence both on and off the field.

Celebrating 79th Independence Day 15th August, 2025

RKMV celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great pride and enthusiasm. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal of the college, who warmly congratulated the students on the occasion. The college campus was adorned with national flags, creating an atmosphere of patriotic exhilaration. The girls were upbeat especially as the national flags were made by the boarders of Tribal Hostel. The celebration resonated with patriotic songs, slogans, and heartfelt speeches that echoed across the premises. Dr. Anurita Saxena ignited the patriotic fervour by raising slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and ;Vande Mataram. She also used the opportunity to inspire students to lead a life of integrity and devotion towards the nation like our great soldiers and freedom fighters. Further she urged all to value life and make wise choices by advocating a strong stand against drug use. Students of the Indira Gandhi Tribal Hostel, RKMV Shimla presented a vibrant performance of Kinnauri Nati, which showcased the rich cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh. Their energetic and graceful dance won the hearts of the audience, who applauded them wholeheartedly. In recognition of their commendable performance, the group was awarded certificates of appreciation along with a cash prize of ₹5000.

NSS Volunteers Observe International Youth Day organized by HGVS at Bachat Bhawan, Shimla Also Students of RKMV actively participated in a mega event organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Himachal Pradesh, and the HP State AIDS Control Society at Hotel Peterhoff, Shimla. 12 August 2025 On the occasion of International Youth Day 2025, NSS volunteers from RKMV participated in a thought-provoking event organized by HGVS at Bachat Bhawan, Shimla. The event focused on raising awareness about drug abuse among youth and featured the launch of the impactful web series "White Truth" Through emotional stories and powerful messages, the programme highlighted the urgent need for collective action against substance abuse. Our volunteers gained valuable insights into their role in building a healthier, drug-free society. Together, we stand for awareness. Together, we strive for change. RKMV Students Shine at International Youth Day Celebrations On August 12th, students of RKMV actively participated in a mega event organized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Himachal Pradesh, and the HP State AIDS Control Society at Hotel Peterhoff, Shimla, to mark International Youth Day. Honourable Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu graced the event as Chief Guest. Our students contributed and participated with great enthusiasm under the guidance of Red Ribbon Club convener Dr. Laxmi Sindhu, Dr. Preeti Saluja, Ms. Lakshita, and NSS Nodal Officer Sh. Shrikant Sharma. A powerful flash mob was performed, spreading awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention. Creative displays of hand-painted umbrellas and T-shirts were showcased in the exhibition. NSS and Rangers volunteers helped in the maintenance of discipline and decorum. The efforts of our students were highly appreciated by the Chief Minister, Health Minister, and other dignitaries. Participants were honored with certificates and awards. Kudos to our youth for their creativity, discipline, and dedication for a meaningful cause.

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla celebrated its much-awaited Freshers’ Party “Andaaz-e-Noor” on 7th August 2025 with unmatched zeal and enthusiasm. Secretary, Personnel and Ms. Ritika Jindal (IAS), Director, Land Records. Their presence inspired and uplifted the spirit of the young girls. The event featured four dynamic rounds – Ramp Walk, Dance, Talent Display, and Q&A – through which our talented first-year students showcased elegance, creativity, and confidence. Out of 53 enthusiastic participants: Miss Preet was crowned Miss Fresher 2025. Anushka and Sojal Singta were adjudged First and Second Runners-Up respectively, Akshika Zinta bagged the title of Miss Talented, and Harsha Deota was declared Miss Confident. The college also extends a heartfelt gratitude to the panel of judges: Ms. Anju Srivastava (HR Expert & Spiritual Healer), Prof. Reva Gupta (Retd. Principal) Ms. Devika Chauhan (Traveller & Social Worker) The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, followed by an empowering message from our chief guests, who urged the students to dream big, remain focused and motivated, and steer clear of all negative influences. The college congratulates all the winners and participants for making “Andaaz-e-Noor” a vibrant celebration of new beginnings and limitless possibilities!

State-wide Campaign against Drug Addiction. 5th August 2025

On 5th August 2025, RKMV Shimla, in collaboration with Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti (HGVS), launched a state-wide cultural campaign against drug addiction, marking a significant step in the fight against substance abuse among youth. An MoU was signed between RKMV &; Gyan Vigyan SamitI of HP paving way for future programs focused on education, public health, and awareness—especially around drug prevention. As part of this unique initiative, the campaign beautifully aligned with the spirit of Raksha Bandhan, emphasizing a mutual promise between brothers and sisters to lead and promote a drug-free life. A powerful talk by Dr. Ravi Bhushan (Retd. Psychologist) spoke on the psychological and physiological consequences of drug addiction. Introduction of the statewide campaign & ;बहन का पगैाम भाई के नाम: Drugs से सुरक्षा का बंधन - रक्षा बंधन&; by Sh. Satyawan Pundir was a major feature of the event. Nukkad Natak by Rajiv Gandhi Degree College Kotshera portrayed the detrimental effects of drug abuse. A soul-stirring dance celebrating life beyond addiction was performed by students of RKMV. The screening of web series ;The WHITE Truth; focused on drug abuse awareness. Slogan chanting, human chain formation, and a united Oath Ceremony for a drug-free society. Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal RKMV, emphasized how traditions like Raksha Bandhan can become powerful tools for positive change and community action. Lets all take a pledge to protect our loved ones, support each other, and build a healthier, drug-free Himachal.
