Empowering Communication Skills: A Progressive Initiative 30th March to 2nd April 2026.

To enhance the communication abilities of students and prepare them for future academic and professional challenges, a progressive initiative titled;Empowering Communication Skills; was undertaken by the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena. Under this initiative, a series of lectures and interactive sessions were conducted for the Post Graduate students ( 4th Semester) of the Department of English and the Department of Geography from 30th March to 2nd April 2026. The sessions were conducted to strengthen the students' confidence, fluency, presentation skills, and interpersonal communication. Through discussions, presentation exercises, and motivational guidance, students were encouraged to overcome hesitation and express their ideas clearly and effectively. The Principal also motivated the students to develop a positive attitude, self-belief, and professional outlook. The sessions were highly engaging and fruitful, thoughtfully designed to strengthen students' confidence, clarity of expression, vocabulary, public speaking skills, body language, and professional etiquette. Such an initiative by the Head of the Institution reflects the institution's commitment to women's empowerment through holistic development and excellence in education.

UDAAN Farewell Party 2026

RKMV celebrated its farewell party :Udaan; for the graduating students on 18th March with great enthusiasm and grandeur. Prof. Mamta Mokta, Member of HPPSC, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included former Principal Ms Manjusha Pathania, Dr Meera Walia, Dr Namrata Tikku, and Dr Vasu Singh, Advisor for Penn State University India Operations. The PTA President was also present as an honoured guest. The distinguished guests shared nostalgic memories of their association with RKMV and encouraged students to strive for excellence and achieve greater heights. In the event, 39 participants showcased their creativity, confidence, and intellect through modelling, dance, singing, poetry, and dramatic performances across three engaging rounds. The competition was judged by Dr Anjali Sharma, Dr Jyoti Pandey, and Mr Srikant Sharma. The Results were Miss Farewell, RKMV-; Ms Khushboo Kedarta 1st Runner-Up ; Ms Saloni 2nd Runner-Up; Ms Ambalika Miss Talented; Ms Isha Negi Miss Confident; Ms Riya Pandit Dr Anurita Saxena, Principal of the college, while honouring the guests, highlighted that RKMV has reached great heights through the collective efforts of her predecessors and the continued support of staff and students. She warmly congratulated the graduating students and wished them great success and a bright future. The event concluded on an emotional note, celebrating students' achievements and bidding a warm farewell to the outgoing batch while wishing them success in their future endeavours.

At the Principals'; Conference on Reforms in Higher Education, Dr Anurita Saxena, Principal of RKMV, Shimla, was felicitated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu ji, on 17th March 2026. The honour was conferred in recognition of RKMV securing third position in the state ranking of colleges. Shri Rohit Thakur, Education Minister, and Shri Rakesh Kanwar, Education Secretary, HP, graced the felicitation ceremony. The achievement reflects the institution's continued commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.

Blood Donation Camp By the Youth Red Cross Society, Red Ribbon Club, Rotaract Club, and NCC Units RKMV 17.03.2026

A Blood Donation Camp was organized at RKMV, Shimla on 17th March 2026 in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross Society, Red Ribbon Club, Rotaract Club, and NCC Units. The event commenced at 11:00 a.m. and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff members. A medical team from IGMC, comprising Dr. Sudheer, staff nurses Ms. Renupriya and Ms. Babita Sharma, along with Mr. Nokh Ram, supervised and facilitated the camp. In all, 43 Donors volunteered and 30 units of blood were successfully collected during the drive.

A Proud National Achievement for RKMV FIFTH Position at the National Level at the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) National Youth Festival – UNIFEST 2025–26,

Students of RKMV have brought a great pride to the institution by securing an impressive FIFTH Position at the National Level at the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) National Youth Festival – UNIFEST 2025–26, hosted by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. Representing Himachal Pradesh University, the talented students of the Department of Dance showcased their remarkable artistry on 11th March through a powerful Creative Choreography based on the theme Nari Tu Narayani.; Their captivating performance, synchronized movements beautifully portrayed the strength, grace, resilience, and divine power of womanhood. After successfully qualifying at both the State and Zonal levels, they earned the prestigious opportunity to perform on the national stage among some of the finest young talents from across the country. Another feather in the cap is our girls scoring FIRST position in the cultural procession held at the commencement of the event which also left an impact on the audience and brought widespread appreciation for the culture of Himachal Pradesh. Securing position at national level in such a highly competitive and prestigious festival is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the dedication, creativity and hard work of our students and mentors. Workshop on Oral Histories of Himalayan Transformation 11th March 2026

A one-day workshop on “Oral Histories of Himalayan Transformation” was held on 11 March 2026 for students of BA and MA. Dr. Aniket Alam, Associate Professor IIIT Hyderabad was the facilitator of the workshop which was organised by the Department of History. The workshop began with a formal inauguration followed by a session on Himalayan Lifeworlds, where Dr. Alam explained the importance of oral history in understanding social and cultural changes in the Himalayan region. Activity titled ; Hidden Histories around Us, encouraged students to think about stories and experiences within their communities. Dr. Aniket Alam also emphasised the archiving and proper preservation of recorded narratives of oral histories. A session on recording interviews was conducted by Ms. Rajani, where she explained the practical aspects of recording oral histories, including proper use of recording devices, attentive listening, and maintaining clear audio quality. She also discussed the importance of documenting interviews through metadata and field notes.

National Conference on “Devbhumi in Dialogue” 10th March 2026

Devbhumi in Dialogue: A National Conference was organized on 10th March 2026 by RKMV to delve into the roots of Himachal Pradesh and encourage rigorous research, thoughtful discussion, and collaborative learning in PG students and research scholars. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Aniket Alam (IIIT Hyderabad) on Himachaliyat and the Idea of Highlands.” The conference for students was the brainchild of Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena, to promote research skills and encourage students to pursue higher studies. A plenary talk was presented by Dr. Uroosa Mushtaq (Deakin University, Australia & Coventry University, UK) and Vishal Sharma (Coventry University, UK) on Himachaliyat within the Framework of Intercultural Dialogue. Five parallel technical sessions brought together more than 80 scholars, researchers, and students, within and outside the State who deliberated on the themes of Economy and Tourism, Belief and Language, Governance and Policy, Culture and Migration, and Climate Change and Sustainability The conference gave an insight into how these young scholars see and perceive the Devbhoomi and provided a platform to highlight indigenous knowledge systems, explore syncretic traditions, and deliberate on contemporary challenges such as migration, urbanization, and climate change, while fostering dialogue to preserve Himachal's cultural and ecological identity.

RKMV has signed MoU with Creative Academy 09th March 2026

RKMV has signed an MoU with Creative Academy (Creative Tutorial Educational & Charitable Society), Sanjauli, Shimla, for Academic Support and Career Guidance. Under this collaboration, NET coaching classes and various career counselling activities are being conducted in the college to support students' academic advancement and career planning.

The NCC Unit of RKMV Shimla organized an outreach activity on 9 March 2026 at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital as part of its commitment to community service. NCC cadets distributed fruits and essential items to patients as a gesture of care and support. The cadets also participated in seva by serving food at the langar organized for patients and their families. The activity was aimed at encouraging the cadets develop empathy, compassion, and a deeper sense of social responsibility.

International Women’s Day Celebration 7th March 2026

International Women's Day was celebrated at RKMV Shimla on 7th March 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation of students including NCC cadets. The event aimed to promote awareness about women's empowerment, gender equality, and environmental responsibility. Parivartan Foundation conducted a special awareness session featuring informative talks on the role of women in society and the importance of environmental protection. A debate competition and interactive discussion followed, where participants shared their views on women’s rights, gender equality, and environmental concerns. The programme concluded on an inspiring note, encouraging participants to respect and support women in all spheres of life.

The Road Safety Club of RKMV, Shimla successfully organized its Annual Prize Distribution Function, celebrating the dedication and efforts of students who participated actively in spreading awareness about road safety throughout the year. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Surinder Sharma, who delivered an inspiring address. He urged everyone to practice safe road behaviour and shared meaningful real-life examples from his own experiences, making his message both impactful and relatable. The program began with a PPT presentation highlighting the various activities and initiatives carried out by the club during the year. It showcased the enthusiasm and commitment of the volunteers and members in promoting responsible road behaviour and also gave a brief account of the activities carried out throughout the year. The convener of the club presented some eye-opening figures related to road accidents and safety, emphasizing the urgent need for awareness and responsible road behaviour. These statistics served as a powerful reminder of how important it is for everyone to follow traffic rules and adopt safe road practices. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where deserving students were felicitated for their outstanding participation and contribution to the club's activities. The function was also attended by senior faculty members, whose presence added encouragement and support to the event. The program concluded with a renewed commitment from all present to promote road safety awareness and responsible conduct on the roads.

Celebration of Holi 3rd March 2026

RKMV celebrated Holi on 3rd March 2026 with great enthusiasm, as students and staff came together to rejoice in the spirit of the festival. The event commenced with warm wishes from Ms. Kartik Chauhan, Dept. Of Zoology, who highlighted the importance of celebrating Holi in a way that reflects care for nature, community, and shared harmony. The programme was further enriched by vibrant cultural songs and graceful dance performances presented by the Department of Music and the Department of Dance, beautifully showcasing our rich traditions and artistic spirit. The celebration concluded on a joyful note, with students and staff dancing together to lively DJ music, spreading colours, cheer, and togetherness throughout the campus.

Workshop on Communication Skills & Grooming

Bachelor of Vocation Department organised a workshop on Communication Skills and Grooming Standards with Ms. Shinam Azad, Entrepreneur, Makeup Artist, and UMB Ms. India 2024 1st Runner-Up on 3rd March 2026. The session emphasised the importance of effective professional communication, personal grooming, and image management, particularly in the hospitality and retail sectors. Ms. Azad also conducted a hands-on demonstration of makeup techniques, providing practical insights into personal presentation for customer-facing roles. Around 80 students from B.Voc. Retail Management and Hospitality & Tourism, along with faculty members, attended the workshop and actively engaged in the interactive session.
