One-Week FDP On “Swadhyaya- A Journey to Fulfillment and Purpose” 21st-26th April 2025
One-Week FDP On “Swadhyaya- A Journey to Fulfillment and Purpose” 21st-26th April 2025

IQAC RKMV, Shimla, organized an insightful and reflective FDP on Indian Knowledge System (IKS), “Swadhyaya, A Journey to Fulfillment and Purpose.” The FDP was inaugurated by the principal of the college Dr. Anurita Saxena who welcomed the Resource Persons and the participants to the FDP and wished for a fruitful, enriching journey towards realization of the self. The facilitators, Mr. Saurabh Mittal and Ms. Preeti Mann from "QYON – Question Your Own Notions" centered the FDP around the theme ‘Swadhyaya’ The people in the present day world have become mechanical and they have started equating happiness with financial success, where they are finding it difficult not only to acknowledge others around them but also evade from their own true selves where the need to question our internal narratives in the journey of self-discovery becomes meaningful. The sessions were designed to encourage participants to introspect and challenge their own pre-existing beliefs and ideas through guided discussions and thought experiments. Thought-provoking questions related to our notions, our identification of them, and their origin, were delved into. This led to a lively and introspective exchange, as participants began to explore their own preconceived ideas and beliefs. The sessions related to thought experiments on concept of happiness, acceptance, gratitude; relationship between thoughts, desires, goals, and purpose; role of empathy, kindness, active listening in building strong, and supportive relationships. These collaborative activities emphasizing teamwork, trust, and mutual support were not only done with teaching and non-teaching members of the college but also with the students. The alignment between being and doing emerged as a key takeaway, inspiring all to pursue a more harmonious and fulfilling life.

The event was in consonance with the MOU between RKMV and Mahasu Art Society Shimla. This 7-day extravaganza at Dhanku Kala Bhawan, Jaitola, Jubbal, Shimla, brought together 39 talented artists from India, Nepal, and SriLanka. Mr. Vishi Ravikanth Dharmasiriwardena, a renowned wildlife artist from Sri Lanka, was the Chief Guest on the inaugural day. Apart from the confluence of ideas and artists, from India and abroad on each day, the tana bana of different traditions and cultures was interweaved so beautifully that the participants and artists could have a surreal yet engrossing experiential learning experience. Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal of RKMV Shimla and also the Patron of the Conference-cum-workshop was the Chief Guest of the cultural fashion show. She was accompanied by Mr. Anil Lakhanpal as the Guest of Honor. The cultural fashion show featured artists and locals from Jubbal and beyond. Several professors from RKMV Shimla, including Dr. Bhader Singh, the organizing secretary, along with students from the college also participated in the event. The conference examined the confluence of art, culture, history, economy and science in shaping societal development especially in the midst of environmental decline and erosion of cultural tradition. The conference while bridging academia and lived cultural experiences explored indigenous knowledge systems, historical narratives and socio-cultural transformations , all through hands-on exposure to artistic styles and experiential learning.

Multiverse Lecture on ‘Attitude’
Multiverse Lecture on ‘Attitude’

IQAC under the Multiverse Lecture Series organised a lecture on &lsquo;Attitude&rsquo; by Ms Geeta Kapur, Retd. CMD, SJVNL on 9th April 2025. The event began with a warm welcome to the Guest Speaker by Dr Anurita Saxena. The Resource Person Ms Geeta Kapur chose &lsquo;Attitude&rsquo; as the theme of her presentation due to its everlasting significance in defining our personality, relationships, happiness and level of success. In pursuance of her presentation she categorically stated that the action, opinion of others are not within our reach or control, nor is the future and the results of the hard work we put in. The only thing within our reach and influence is our action, our responses, our thought processes, the goals we set and the energies we feed. With success stories made through perseverance, hard choices and grit, of renowned celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Arunima Sinha, Mirabai Chanu, and Laxmi Aggarwal etc., she infused the audience with enthusiasm to challenge themselves, averring that &lsquo;it is your reaction to adversity not adversity that counts.&rsquo; &lsquo;Change&rsquo; is an irrefutable truth, acceptance is the only way forward, she asserted. &lsquo; All successful people are not happy&rsquo; and the definition of success varies from individual to individual. All comes down to the attitude we develop and ingrain within us. The lecture was succeeded by an interactive session in which the students had the opportunity to present their queries which were addressed by the Resource Person with insightful responses. She encouraged the students to adopt a positive attitude which would lead to a destiny of their choice.</p> The event was attended by the teaching, non-teaching staff along with the post graduate students of the college.
