The one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Indigenous Knowledge in Health & Nutrition”, organized by IQAC, RKMV in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences, Home Science, and Physical Education, concluded on 29th September 2025. Mr. Rohit Jamwal (IAS), Director of the AYUSH Department, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The launch of the Wild Greens Recipe' initiative-conceived by Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena and introduced by the Department of Home Science, RKMV-;added a momentous touch to the event. The closing event featured insightful student presentations on themes such as Analysis of Health Parameters of RKMV Students, A Study on Food Habits, and Read the Label. These presentations effectively raised awareness about contemporary health issues, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices, mindful eating, and conscious lifestyle choices. A documentary was also screened, showcasing the activities conducted throughout the FDP, starting from 24th September. The film highlighted contributions from esteemed resource persons including Dr. Anita Gautam, Ms. Shiwani Kanwar (Yogasanas), Dr. Vivek Sharma, Ms. Mamta Paul, Dr. Ashutosh Bhardwaj, and Dr. Geetanjali Sood. In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Rohit Jamwal expressed concern over the declining nutritional value in modern diets. He emphasized the need to recognize and revive India’s rich indigenous knowledge systems, often only acknowledged when validated by the West. He remarked that while modern medicine treats symptoms, true healing lies in addressing root causes through a healthy lifestyle. Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena also spoke on the relevance of indigenous knowledge in promoting not just good health, but also mental and physical agility in today's fast-paced world. She advocated for the integration of yoga into daily life for overall well-being. Awards were presented to winners of various competitions held during the week, including Millet-Based Food Preparation, Photography, Poster Making, and Slogan Writing. FDP participation certificates were also distributed. The event concluded on an enriching note, leaving participants more aware and inspired to make informed choices about their food, health, and lifestyle.
As a part of National Nutrition Week, RKMV IQAC, Faculty of Sciences, Home Science and Physical Education, organised a Health Check-Up Camp in collaboration with Sanitarium Hospital, Shimla, on 25th and 26th September 2025 in the college. Rotaract Club and Youth Red Cross club of RKMV rendered their services for the smooth conduct of the Camp, aiming at ✔️ General Health Screening ✔️ BMI, SPO2 and HB ✔️ Blood Pressure and Sugar Check ✔️ Height and Weight Check ✔️ Dental Check-up and Eye Testing A team of 11 members, comprising expert doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, provided consultations and assessments, helping student and staff members take a step towards a healthier lifestyle. The initiative, under the patronage of the Principal Dr Anurita Saxena, emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition, early detection, and regular health monitoring, aligning perfectly with the theme of Nutrition Week.
In a remarkable celebration of talent, creativity, and camaraderie, RKMV hosted ‘Rasotsav’, an inter-college cultural fest, on 20th September 2025. The fest was graced by Sh. Prabodh Saxena, Chief Secretary, Himachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Diector (Personnel) and Sh. Amarjit K. Sharma, Director of Higher Education, attended as Guests of Honour. The event also saw the presence of esteemed principals and facultymembers from participating colleges. The competition was divided into four groups, to evaluate students on different creative and performance-based parameters. The learned Judges of the events were Mr Raja Bhasin, Ms Veena Sood, Prof. Him Chatterjee, Dr Amit Kanwar, Dr. Surinder Sharma, Ms Himani Saxena, Ms Deepika Sharma, Mr Vinod Channa, Ms Palak Bhardwaj, Dr Divya, Ms Geeta Kapoor, Ms Purnima Sharma and Mr Ajay Sharma. GC Sanjauli won the Overall trophy with 29 points RKMV came second with 24 points and St Bedes came third with 17 points The fest was marked by events such as Debate, Declamation, Essay Writing , Reel Making, On the Spot Painting, Rangoli, Photography, Light Vocal Solo (Indian ) Song,Folk Group Song (Indian), Group Folk Dance, Semi Classical Solo Indian Dance ,Western (Bollywood)Solo</p> Dance, Western (Bollywood) Group, and Nukkad Natak(Street Play). The college campus came alive with a festive atmosphere. On one side, Self-Help Groups and students had set up stalls offering Siddus, Kachoris, Pickles, Apple Burfi, Chutneys, and local handicrafts. On the other side hot, wholesome meal was served to students who had lined up in cheerful anticipation. With multiple events in dance, music, theatre, and art happening simultaneously, students were free to explore and enjoy performances of their choice. Nattis and dance were held in the open ground adding volume to the merriment and gaiety in the students. The fest, a visionary initiative of the Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena, aimed to foster both academic and cultural excellence, strengthening the spirit of camaraderie amongst the nearby colleges of Shimla.
RKMV organized an Inter-Faculty Competition on 10th September 2025, aimed at celebrating team spirit, talent, creativity, and healthy competition among the various faculties of the college. The brainchild of the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, to foster academic and cultural excellence amongst students was supported by the representatives of the PTA, CSCA and Shri Anil Lakhanpal. To add to the spirit of bonhomie and celebration, students and staff of the college enthusiastically participated in the event. The competition was divided into four groups, each comprising events designed to evaluate students on different creative and performance-based parameters. Dr ID Sharma, Dr Bhagwati Charan, Ms Sushma Sharma, Ms Jamuna Gurung, Dr Surender Sharma, Dr Sandhya Sharma, Sh.
