Genesis: Hostellers' Welcome 2025 31st July 2025

A warm and vibrant Freshers ' Party was hosted by the students of Tribal and Sainik Hostels on 31st July 2025 to welcome the new hostel members with open hearts and joyful celebrations. The event was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena (Principal) as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Surinder Sharma (Dean of Students' Welfare), Dr. Jyoti Pandey and; Dr. Sushila Bhatt (Wardens), Dr. Usha (Hostel Convenor), and other esteemed faculty members The event kicked off with a confident and creative ramp walk by the freshers, giving them a chance to shine, express themselves, and showcase their talent and charm. It was more than just a walk; it was a celebration of individuality and confidence. The event came alive with spectacular cultural performances by the students of both hostels. Traditional dances in traditional dresses, vibrant music, and sheer energy lit up the stage and left the audience spellbound. Here to new beginnings, unforgettable memories, and a hostel life full of laughter and learning.

The Dept of Computer Applications organized a lecture on Cyber Security for students of Computer Application of B.Sc( I, II, III) and BCA (I, II, III) Under the "Hack Safe Campaign", Er. Gaurav Sgarma delivered an insightful lecture on Cyber Security. The session focused on raising awareness about online threats, safe digital practices, and the importance of protecting personal and organizational data in today's digital age. Er Sharma also discussed real-world cyber attack scenarios, introduced students to basic tools for cyber hygiene, and emphasized the growing need for skilled professionals in the cybersecurity domain. The interactive session was well-received and inspired students to consider careers in cybersecurity and adopt secure practices while using mobile phones and other gadgets connected to the Internet.

Motivational Talk Climbing Beyond Limits 29th July

Departments of B.Voc, BCA, Microbiology, and Biotechnology RKMV Shimla organized a session aimed to inspire students by sharing the extraordinary life experiences of Sh. Raman Chander Sood, one of Indias most revered mountaineers, and his life partner, Mrs. Anita Sood, who has stood beside him throughout his journey The talk focused on instilling values of discipline, resilience, and mental strength, encouraging students to overcome personal and academic challenges with courage. Sh. Sood's incredible journey from RPDSBC alumni to summiting Island Peak (6,165m) in April 2025 reminded us all that age, fear, and failure are no match for determination. Mrs. Anita Sood's insights into encouragement, inner calm, and partnership in overcoming life's mountains, added a profound layer to the session. The talk deeply resonated with students and faculty alike, inspiring us to pursue our goals with courage, discipline, and empathy. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both speakers for. helping us climb our own mountains—personal, academic, or otherwise. ;Success lies beyond fear and failure. Kargil Vijay Diwas: Remembering the Sacrifice of our Brave hearts On 26th July 2025

NCC unit, RKMV honoured the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers by observing Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July 2025. Dr Anurita Saxena, Principal of the college was Chief guest at the event. The event began with a solemn tribute to the martyrs whose courage and heroism has been etched forever in the hearts of all Indians. In the event cultural dances were presented by the students interspersed with patriotic songs and poetry, giving the message of unity in diversity. The students also presented a skit on the dastardly attack which took place in Pahalgam. Dr Anurita Saxena, in her speech, praised the valour and gallantry of the fallen heroes while raising the need to treasure their sacrifice by making India great through a small contributory step of academic and cultural excellence.

Celebrating Teej: Embracing Tradition, Culture & Nature 26th July

राजकीय कन्या महाविद्यालय में हरियाली तीज के पावन अवसर पर एक भव्य कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें छात्राओं ने पौराणिक, धार्मिक, ऐतिहासिक और पर्यावरणीय महत्व से जुड़े विविध रंगों को उत्सव के माध्यम से जीवंत किया। महाविद्यालय प्राचार्या डॉ. अनुरिता सक्सेना ने छात्राओं को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, भारत विविधताओं से भरा एक समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक देश है। हरियाली तीज नारी शक्ति, समर्पण, भक्ति और प्रकृति की हरियाली व सौंदर्य का प्रतीक है। हरे वस्त्र, झूले, मेहंदी और लोक गीत इस पर्व की विशेषताएं हैं डॉ. सक्सेना ने सभी छात्राओं को अपनी संस्कृति से जुड़ने, उसके संरक्षण का संकल्प लेने और तीज जैसे पर्वों के माध्यम से सर्वांगीण विकास की प्रेरणा देने की बात कही। उन्होंने यह भी आग्रह किया कि छात्राएं "एक पेड़ मां के नाम" से लगाएं और पर्यावरण की रक्षा में अपना योगदान दें। साथ ही, वर्षा ऋतु में स्वास्थ्य, स्वच्छता और संतुलित खान-पान पर विशेष ध्यान देने की सलाह दी। इस अवसर को और भी खास बनाया छात्राओं की रंगारंग प्रस्तुतियों ने। सुंदर नृत्य प्रस्तुतियों और मेहंदी प्रतियोगिता ने सभी का मन मोह लिया। मेहंदी प्रतियोगिता के विजेता प्रथम किरण द्वितीय इशिता तृतीय अलिषा सभी विजेताओं को नकद पुरस्कार देकर सम्मानित किया गया। ऐसे आयोजन हमारे सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों को न केवल सहेजते हैं, बल्कि छात्राओं को अपनी जड़ों से जोड़ने का सशक्त माध्यम भी बनते हैं।

College Volunteers Training Workshop on Heritage Conservation 24th July 2025

The Department of History and IQAC of RKMV in collaboration with INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), hosted a Students Volunteers Training Workshop on Heritage Conservation, aimed at empowering students with knowledge and skills to actively engage in the preservation of Indias rich cultural legacy The workshop provided students with a comprehensive understanding of both tangible and intangible heritage. From learning the art of documentation to understanding the nuances of fieldwork, students were guided through a range of topics essential to preserve our rich heritage. The workshop was enriched by four esteemed speakers who brought diverse perspectives and deep insights together. Ms. Purnima Datt, Spoke on the historical context of India art and architecture, emphasizing the need to preserve our tangible and intangible heritage for future generations. Ms. Malvika Pathania Focused on documentation techniques and conservation practices, guiding students through real-life examples of field surveys and restoration efforts. Mr. Raaja Bhasin Took students on a journey through the colonial history of Shimla, shedding light on its architectural and cultural legacy. Ms. Christina Shangne Explored the role of volunteers in heritage conservation, encouraging students to actively participate in INTACH various community-based heritage projects. Heritage Conservation Techniques: Students learned about restoration, documentation, and preservation practices through expert-led discussions. Hands-on sessions enabled students to explore local heritage themes like Gaiety Theatre, Kullu Shawls and Dussehra, and Chamba Rumal, fostering a deeper connection with their surroundings. The interactive format of the workshop encouraged students to ask questions and share feedback, resulting in a dynamic and enriching learning experience for all. The workshop led by distinguished speakers not only raised awareness about the importance of heritage conservation but also stands as a testament to the power of education and community in preserving the stories, structures, and traditions that define us. The History Department extends its heartfelt thanks to INTACH and all speakers for their valuable contributions. We look forward to more such collaborations in the future!

Commemorating Malala Day 17th July 2025

The Women Cell, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club and RUSA Cell of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, organised a guest lecture to mark Malala Day; a tribute to the courage and advocacy of Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, a global symbol of girls; right to education. Ms. Geetanjali Thakur, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Narcotics) and a proud alumna of RKMV, was the esteemed guest speaker. Drawing inspiration from Malalas life, she underscored the critical importance of women education and resilience in the face of adversity. She urged students to embrace their college years with purpose, grow into responsible individuals, and remain vigilant against social evils, especially drug abuse. She also encouraged the students to be fearless in reporting any anti-social or suspicious activities around them. The programme was graced by Mrs. Kartik Mrityunjay Chauhan, Dr. Surinder Sharma (DSW), and Mr. Karan Bamba, President of Rotary Club, Shimla.

Performance Art “Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana De” On 15th July 2025

RKMV witnessed a stellar solo performance titled Maa Mujhe Tagore Bana De; by the acclaimed actor and storyteller Luckyjee Gupta on 15th July 2025. This inspiring play portrays the journey of a student who overcomes extreme hardships in pursuit of education. The earnest performance depicted the cumulative hard work of the parents and teachers in educating their wards. The hardships faced by the students are the roadblocks which they have to overcome on their path to education. The Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, appreciating the inspirational nature of the play and the finesse of the actor, emphasised on the productive use of college hours by the students. She reiterated that students should frequent the library and limit their use of mobile phones which are highly addictive in nature thus draining their energy and creativity.

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla warmly welcomed its new batch of students through a well-structured Induction Program held on 10th July for students of humanities and 11th July for students of science, commerce and other streams like B.Voc, BCA, Biotechnology, Microbiology The Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena motivating the students urged them to embrace not just education, but values, discipline, and skill for a better future. She also emphasized on: ● Enrolment in value-added courses as acquisition of skills is the mantra of success in today highly competitive world. ● Participation in inter-faculty competitions, sports, NSS, and Earn Learn Scheme for holistic growth. ● Strict campus discipline: Mobile phones usage only in non restricted areas, reducing plastic waste and 15 mandatory library hours in a month. The incharges of different clubs & societies also , encouraged students to engage in 'beyond the classroom' activities. Apart from familiarising the students on available courses the induction also focused on: ● Department-wise introductions by faculty members ● Guidance on college rules, do’s & don’ts, exam system. ● Introduction to campus facilities, student support services. The sessions were held with the intention of helping the newcomers connect with the institutional culture and opportunities that await them at RKMV. The two days of inspiration, clarity, and campus connect will pave the way for a bright academic journey ahead!
