Youth Red Cross and Rotaract Club: Induction Programme and a Special Lecture on "MANSA – Ek Sankalp" 29th July 2026

The Youth Red Cross and Rotaract Club of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, organized an Induction Programme for the newly inducted members followed by a special lecture on "MANSA – Ek Sankalp: Rethinking Addiction Prevention through Emotional Knowledge" on 29th July 2026. During the Induction Programme, volunteers were sensitized about the objectives, vision, and activities of the Youth Red Cross and Rotaract Club. The Convener, Dr. Laxmi Sindhu, while addressing the gathering, motivated the volunteers to imbibe the values of service, leadership, and social responsibility. She encouraged students to actively participate in blood donation camps, health awareness drives, and other community service activities planned for the session 2026-27. Following the Induction, a special lecture on "MANSA – Ek Sankalp" was delivered by Ms. Bindu Joshi, who is a member of Nasha Nivaran Board and also an author, researcher and psychotherapist. She spoke extensively on emotional knowledge and its role in prevention of addiction. She emphasized the crucial role of young women in combating narcotics and substance abuse in society. She explained how unaddressed emotional pain, stress, and unheard emotions can often lead individuals towards addiction. She also urged students to develop emotional resilience, practice empathy, and create supportive peer networks to help those in need. An oath on Nasha Nivaran was also administered to all the participants and faculty members. Everyone pledged to stay emotionally strong, reject substance abuse, and also spread awareness and work towards a drug-free society. Around 115 students participated in the event. The programme concluded on an inspiring note and successfully reinforced the importance of emotional well-being, social responsibility, and collective efforts in building an aware, healthy, and responsible society.

Career Guidance Session 27th - 28th July 2026

The Career Counselling and Placement Cell, RKMV, Shimla, organised a two-day career guidance session on 27th and 28th July 2026 in collaboration with Creative Academy, Shimla, to apprise students of various competitive examinations such as IAS, HPAS, Banking, Allied Services, NET/SLET, and other career opportunities. Students from different streams and academic years participated in the sessions and were provided with detailed information about these competitive examinations, their eligibility criteria, and career prospects. The sessions primarily focused on effective preparation strategies, the importance of maintaining focus and consistency, techniques to stay motivated, and the mindset required to succeed in competitive examinations. At the end of each session, the participants were given a General Knowledge questionnaire to assess their awareness and aptitude. Based on the evaluation of their performance, scholarships will be offered to eligible students who wished to enrol in courses at Creative Academy, Shimla.

Regional Outreach Programme on Empowering Startups, Enterprises and Industry in Himachal Pradesh 27th July 2026

Five students and two faculty members from the college attended the Regional Outreach Programme on "Empowering Startups, Enterprises and Industry in Himachal Pradesh" held at the Secretariat, Chhota Shimla, on 27 July 2026. The conference was jointly organized by HIMCOSTE, Department of Environment, Science, Technology & Climate Change (DEST), Technology Development Board (TDB), and CC. The programme focused on promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration in Himachal Pradesh. Eminent experts and officials shared valuable insights on government initiatives, start-ups funding opportunities, technology commercialization, research support, and policies aimed at strengthening the start-up ecosystem in the state. The participants were also familiarized with the various schemes available for them as young innovators and entrepreneurs

Observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas 27th July 2026

The NCC Unit of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate India's victory in the Kargil War of 1999 and to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives safeguarding the nation's sovereignty. To honour their courage and inspire the younger generation with the values of patriotism, discipline, and selfless service, the college , organized the celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 27 July 2026. The Chief Guest, Wg Cdr Shivanee Chauhan, along with the ANO, NCC staff, and NCC cadets lit the ceremonial lamp in memory of the brave soldiers who achieved martyrdom in service of the nation. The programme also included the Rank Ceremony, during which NCC cadets were honoured with their ranks in recognition of their commitment, discipline, and leadership qualities. Addressing the gathering, Wg Cdr Shivanee Chauhan motivated the students to remain disciplined, courageous, and dedicated towards the nation. She shared valuable insights from her journey and encouraged the youth to contribute positively to society and the country

Satat Samudaya Sangam 2026 25th-26th July, 2026

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, in collaboration with Earth Just, Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA/MSHIPA), Shimla, HIMCOSTE organized the two-day Satat Shiksha Samudaya Sangam 2026 at MSHIPA,Fairlawn Mashobra,Shimla on 25–26 July 2026 bringing together participants from across the world to deliberate on sustainable and community-led development. The programme began with an interactive session designed to foster meaningful connections among participants and develop a shared understanding of the vision and objectives of the Sangam. The major highlights of the programme were: The session Kal Ka Sheher, Kal Ka Gaon, which encouraged participants to envision thriving towns and villages rooted in sustainability and community participation. District-level Dream Mapping exercises, where participants identified local strengths, challenges, and opportunities while proposing practical, place-based solutions for sustainable development. Creating a Saksham Himachal through education, collaboration, and community engagement. Hunar Bazaar sessions explored diverse themes, including collaboration between civil society and government, place-based learning, forest conservation, climate change, and community-led educational initiatives. The event ended with a commitment session, where participants pledged to contribute towards building a sustainable, resilient, and inclusive Himachal through continued collaboration and community engagement.

ECO CLUB INDUCTION PROGRAMME 23rd July 2026

The Eco Club of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, organized an Eco Club Induction Programme to introduce students to the objectives, activities, and functioning of the club. The programme aimed to sensitize students towards environmental conservation and encourage their active participation in sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives. Approximately 120 students participated in the programme. Prof. Kartik S.M. Chauhan, convenor of Eco Club in her address highlighted: The importance of environmental awareness The role of young people in addressing ecological challenges The role played by the Eco Club in promoting environmental consciousness, biodiversity conservation, waste management, water conservation, reduction of plastic use, plantation activities, and sustainable living practices the activities undertaken by the Eco Club such as awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, plantation programmes, workshops, nature walks, bird-watching activities, study of local flora and community-based environmental initiatives. The Road Safety Club, Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla successfully organized an Orientation Programme and Road Safety Pledge Ceremony on 23rd July 2026. The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 150 students, reflecting their commitment to promoting road safety and responsible citizenship. The orientation programme aimed to familiarize students with the objectives and activities of the Road Safety Club while creating awareness about responsible road behaviour, traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and safe driving practices. The session emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, adhering to speed limits, and following traffic regulations to reduce road accidents. The highlight of the event was the Road Safety Pledge which was administered by Dean of Sciences, Prof.KSM Chauhan during which all participants pledged to obey traffic rules, practice safe road behaviour, and spread awareness among their families, friends, and the wider community. The enthusiastic response of the students reflected their dedication to contributing towards safer roads and a more responsible society.

The Red Ribbon Club of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, organized an Induction cum orientation Programme followed by an awareness session on HIV/AIDS on 23rd July 2026. During the programme, students were sensitized and made aware of the significance and objectives of the Red Ribbon Club. They were also encouraged to participate actively in the various activities planned for the academic session 2026-27. Thereafter, an awareness session on HIV/AIDS and a live demonstration on the NACO Self-Assessment Tool for HIV were conducted. The resource person for the awareness session was Ms. Kritika Sharma, Assistant Director (Youth Affairs), HPSACS (Dept. of Health & Family welfare, Govt. of H.P) The resource person in her address explained the modes of transmission, methods of prevention, the importance of early testing, treatment options, and addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with HIV/AIDS. A significant highlight of the session was the discussion on the effective use of online and offline platforms in safeguarding youth against HIV/AIDS. Students were encouraged to access authentic health information through official websites, verified social media platforms, webinars, and digital awareness campaigns while avoiding misinformation circulating online. The programme proved to be highly informative and inspiring, reinforcing the importance of awareness, responsible choices, and collective efforts in creating an aware, informed and healthy society.

Three-Day Induction & Orientation Programme (7th-9th July 2026) ,Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla

Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, successfully organized a three-day Induction and Orientation Programme from 7 to 9 July 2026 for students of all streams to mark the beginning of the new academic session. The programme was conducted in a phased manner, with sessions for final-year students on 7 July, second-year students on 8 July, and newly admitted first-year students on 9 July 2026. The primary objective of the programme was to familiarize students with the academic framework, institutional values, rules and regulations, and the various opportunities available within the college. It also aimed to guide students towards holistic development through active participation in academic, cultural, sports, and co-curricular activities.. The highlight of the programme was the address delivered by the Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, who warmly welcomed the students and inspired them to remain focused on their academic goals while actively engaging in skill development and extracurricular pursuits. Emphasizing discipline as the cornerstone of success, she encouraged students to maintain punctuality, adhere to institutional norms, and uphold the values of respect, integrity, and responsibility.. Dr. Saxena apprised students of the various academic, skill development, internship, placement, and student support opportunities available in the institution. Special emphasis was laid on the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), particularly for first-year students, guiding them on curriculum structure, subject choices, and the importance of value-added courses in enhancing employability. Students were also oriented about the college rules and code of conduct, including regulated use of mobile phones within designated areas. The importance of regular reading habits and effective utilization of library resources was highlighted, with information regarding mandatory library engagement practices. The programme further included introductions to faculty members and coordinators of various clubs and societies, along with guidance on campus facilities, examination systems, and student support services. Students were encouraged to actively participate in NSS, sports, inter-faculty competitions, and other extension activities for their overall development. Environmental responsibility was another key focus area, with students being motivated to adopt sustainable practices, reduce the use of single-use plastic, maintain cleanliness, and contribute towards a green and eco-friendly campus. The three-day programme effectively acquainted students with the institutional environment, expectations, and opportunities, setting a positive and motivating tone for a productive and enriching academic session ahead.
