The IQAC, RKMV, in collaboration with the Earth Just Ecosystems Foundation, organised a three-day International Conference on “ Prakriti se Sanskriti at MSHIPA, Shimla. </strong>The event brought together 130 participants from across the country and focused on Indian Knowledge Systems reflected in craft, culture, community, environmental sustainability, rural livelihoods, indigenous technologies, biodiversity, and heritage. The first day included insightful deliberations by distinguished speakers such as former Chief Secretary Mr Prabodh Saxena, HPU Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahavir Singh, IAS (Retd.) Mr Ramesh Negi, retired JNU professors Prof. Aditya and Prof. Mridula Mukherjee, and Mr Vijay Mahajan from the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. They emphasised sustainability, interdisciplinary learning, skill enhancement, diversity, and inclusive development. The day concluded with a vibrant fashion show showcasing Himachali culture and traditions. The second day began with a recap of Day One, followed by a presentation by the Principal, Dr Anurita Saxena, who highlighted RKMV’s commitment to environmental conservation and responsible resource use. Multiple parallel sessions were held on themes such as craft, culture, indigenous technologies, biodiversity, environmental sustainability, rural livelihoods, and traditional cuisines. Brainstorming discussions explored issues like toxic fabrics, carbon credits, and Ashta Lakshmi. The day ended with the message; Swayam se Samudaye,” encouraging a shift from individual awareness to community-centred action. The final day focused on creating a cleaner and stronger Himachal through personal responsibility and collective effort. Facilitator Abhishek Taneja guided discussions around the ideas of a clean, harmonious, participatory, and prosperous society. Participants also engaged in hands-on activities in four different groups based on their interests. The sessions encouraged reflection, dialogue, and meaningful action for ecological and social well-being. Overall, the conference successfully blended academic insights, cultural appreciation, and practical learning while reinforcing the connection between Prakriti (nature) and Sanskriti(culture) for sustainable and community-driven development.
Rajkiya Kanya Maha Vidyalaya hosted a one-day district-level training workshop on 25 November, bringing together Red Ribbon Club members from various educational institutions across Shimla district Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena inaugurated the workshop with an inspiring address, encouraging students to actively participate in health and awareness initiatives. The sessions were led by Ms. Kritika (Assistant Director, HPSACS), who served as the Guest Trainer for the day.> Session 1 focused on general awareness about HIV/AIDS, including prevention, myths & facts, and the importance of using official helplines and verified social media platforms for accurate information. Session 2 emphasized the various activities and responsibilities that Red Ribbon Clubs should carry out within their institutions to promote health awareness and community engagement. Mr. Rakesh Bhardwaj (LT, DDU Hospital) was also present to support the event. The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Laxmi Sindhu (Convener, RRC). The event was efficiently coordinated by RRC members Dr. Preeti Saluja, Ms. Varsha, and Ms. Lakshita.
The Anti-Drug Committee of RKMV in collaboration with Gyan Vigyan Samiti of Himachal Pradesh, organized an impactful awareness programme on 24th November 2025. The programme featured a powerful Nukkad Natak (street play) that highlighted the emotional, physical, and social consequences of substance abuse. The performance was followed by a series of gripping, theme-based songs that further strengthened the message of an addiction-free society. The college was honored to have the active participation of the Gyan Vigyan Samiti team, including Mrs. Srivastava (President), Ms. Chandel, Mr. Satyawan (General Secretary), Mr. Robin, and the talented Kala Jatha group from Mandi, whose performances played a vital role in raising awareness. The event was graced by the presence of the Vice Principal, Ms. KSM Chauhan, DSW Surender Sharma, Dr. Rajesh Azad, Ms. Harsha, and other staff members of the Anti-Drug Committee. Scholarship Committee of RKMV organized a PTA-sponsored merit-based Scholarship Distribution Function on 21st November 2025. The event was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Worthy Principal, as the Chief Guest, along with PTA President Rameshwar Sharma, Dr. Surinder Sharma, Prof. Kartik, Dr. Arvind Paul, and other esteemed members of the scholarship committee. A total of 154 meritorious students were awarded scholarships, recognizing their outstanding academic performance. The event also included the Internship Appointment Ceremony, where 72 interns were appointed for the session 2025-26 across various departments under the Learn and Earn Internship Program. An initiative of Dr Anurita Saxena, Merit-Based Scholarship, and Learn and Earn Scholarship, sponsored by the PTA, has been instrumental in encouraging, helping, and assisting the students of the college The function was attended by faculty members, staff, and students, who applauded the efforts of the PTA and the scholarship committee for their continuous support of deserving students.
Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of RKMV conducted an awareness event on HIV/AIDS on 20th November 2025. The event focused on spreading awareness on AIDS, it causes, and prevention, through Slogan Writing and Poster Making competitions. The judging panel comprised of Dr. Sandhya Sharma and Ms. Anita Rani Saroch, who declared the winners: In Slogan Writing, the top spots went to Hemlata (B.A. 1st Year), Nitasha (B.Sc. 3rd Year), and Sejal (B.Sc. 3rd Year). In Poster Making, the winners were Ayushi Agiras (B.Sc. 3rd Year), Muskaan (B.Sc. 3rd Year), and Ayushi Chauhan (B.Sc. 3rd Year). The presence of Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena and Vice Principal Kartik M. Chauhan highly motivated the students. The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Laxmi Sindhu, Convener of the RRC. The NCC Unit of Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV) actively participated in an Anti-Chitta Awareness Programme organised by the Himachal Pradesh Government Police on 15th November 2025. The event aimed to spread awareness about the growing threat of Chitta, a harmful synthetic drug affecting the youth and society at large. The programme began with an inaugural address by Chief Minister Mr Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, who highlighted the rising cases of drug abuse in the state and stressed the need for collective responsibility to combat the issue. He encouraged students and NCC cadets to take a strong stand against drugs, spread awareness in their communities, and act as ambassadors of a drug-free Himachal. The NCC cadets of RKMV, under the guidance of ANO Major Dr Luxmi, participated in the awareness activities with great enthusiasm. They took part in the rally, carried informative placards, and raised slogans promoting a drug-free society. The cadets also interacted with the public, explaining the harmful effects of drugs on health, family life, and the future of the youth. The programme concluded with a pledge ceremony where all participants vowed to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthier and safer society.
On the occasion of Children's Day, 14th November 2025, Youth Red Cross Club of RKMV distributed refreshments at the Children's Ward of IGMC Shimla. The event aimed to provide support and bring smiles to young patients undergoing treatment at the hospital. During the visit, the members of the club distributed nutritious refreshments, including fruits, juice, etc., to the children. The initiative was carried out with the spirit of compassion and service, ensuring that the young patients received not only healthy food but also encouragement and warmth from the volunteers. The event was coordinated by Ms Upma Sharma, Ms Anuradha, and Mr Jaianand. The hospital authorities appreciated the efforts. Such initiatives reflect the commitment of RKMV Shimla toward social responsibility and community welfare. The Youth Red Cross Club continues to engage in similar activities, promoting a culture of kindness, service, and well-being among students and the community.
The NCC Unit of RKMV, Shimla, organised an Anti-Drugs Awareness Program on 13 November 2025 to address the growing concern of drug abuse among youth. Shri Ashok Tiwari, Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, was the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker, delivering an insightful address on; The Menace of Drugs.; He was accompanied by DSP Ms Geetanjali Thakur, Inspector Ms Reena, and Lady Constables Ms Vanita and Ms Anandini. In his address, the Chief Guest underscored the severity of drug abuse and urged students to commit to a drug-free lifestyle. He stressed that healthy competition in academics and sports paves the way for success and personal growth. Lady Constable Vanita, an alumna of RKMV and now a Police Commando, shared her inspiring journey, motivating cadets to remain disciplined and resilient. Inspector Reena and Ms Anandini spoke about the harmful effects of drug addiction, while DSP Geetanjali presented an informative PPT outlining prevention strategies and early warning signs. All the speakers urged the students to be a part of Anti-Chitta; Rally to be held on 15th November on the Ridge. NCC cadets under the guidance of ANO Major Dr Luxmi actively participated in the program through discussions, slogan-writing, and poster displays, such as; Say No to Drugs,” making the program both engaging and impactful.</p> The Principal, Dr Anurita Saxena, expressed her gratitude to the DGP, DSP, and the entire team for sensitising students on the dangers of drug abuse. She remarked that peer pressure and curiosity often push young people toward risky behaviour and emphasised that the college runs several support initiatives, such as Share and Care, to assist students who may need help and guidance.
The Road Safety Club of RKMV Shimla organised a rally and nukkad natak on 13th November 2025 to spread the message of road safety. The rally, flagged off by the worthy Principal Dr Anurita Saxena, commenced from the college premises and proceeded to the Mall Road, Shimla. The participants, comprising 82 students and faculty members, marched through the busy streets, raising awareness about road safety rules and regulations. The nukkad natak was performed at four different locations, namely Lakkar Bazar, the amphitheatre near Gaiety Theatre, Rotary Plaza and Sports Complex. The play highlighted the importance of traffic rules, golden hour and safe road behaviour to avoid accidents. The event aimed to educate the public, especially the youth, about the importance of road safety and the consequences of reckless driving. Prof. Geeta Sharma, Convener of the Road Safety Club, along with Dr Vinay Mohan, Dr Gita Sharma, Dr Nishtha, Dr Reenu, Dr Jitender, Dr Nisha, and Dr Devender Sharma, accompanied the students and participated in the event. Road Safety Club of RKMV is committed to spreading awareness about road safety and promoting responsible driving habits.</p>
Red Cross Society, RKMV, organized a Need-Based Training program in the college under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena on 11th November 2025. Red Cross Coordinator Dr. Laxmi Sindhu, Co-Coordinator Geeta Sharma, and faculty members Prof. Upma Sharma, Prof. Sheetal, and Prof. Anuradha were also present in the program. In the event, Dr. Kimi Sood trained around 120 students of the Youth Red Cross (YRC) in basic first aid techniques, focusing on emergency response and assisting the injured. The Principal, Dr. Anurita Saxena, appreciated the initiative, noting that such programs promote service, awareness, and humanitarian values among students. Dr. Laxmi Sindhu urged students to use and share their learning for the welfare of society, emphasizing that the Red Cross embodies true human compassion.
Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, in collaboration with the Mahsu Art Society (a non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting aspiring artists), organized " Manthan, annual Exhibition 2025, an Entrepreneurship Programme for former and current students of the Department of Painting, RKMV. The event is being held at Tavern Hall, Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, from 10th to 16th November 2025 and is curated by Dr. Bhader Singh, Assistant Professor of Art at RKMV. The exhibition aims to help emerging artists grow and establish themselves in the professional world of art. It was inaugurated at 4 PM on 10 November 2025 by Sh. Anupam Kishore, Regional Director (Shimla) of the Reserve Bank of India, in the presence of the guests of honour, Dr. Anurita Saxena (Principal), Prof. I. D. Sharma, and Prof. Ritu Sharma. Prior to the exhibition, an Entrepreneurship Programme was also organized as a preparatory initiative to build creative skills, self-reliance, and professional awareness among students of RKMV. The sessions focused on ->Practical aspects of the art profession - potential buyers, art enthusiasts, curators, and gallery owners. ->Presenting artworks effectively in a gallery setting. ->Identifying works suitable for professional exhibitions. The exhibition showcased the works of six artists of Mahsu Art Society: Sushma Sharma, Susmita Rai, Jamuna Gurung, Komal Yadav, Ruchika, and Nisha, along with eleven students of RKMV: Kiran Kumari, Priyanka Sharma, Anisha Sharma, Muskan, Sneha Sista, Sakshi, Jyotsna, Kritika, Muskan Negi, Swati, and Preet. Together, their artworks offer a vibrant expression of emotions, Himachali culture and traditions, nature, flora, fauna, and human experiences. The range of styles extends from realism to abstraction, and the mediums include oil, acrylic, charcoal, and watercolour. More than one hundred paintings are on display, with prices ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹55,000.
RKMV, hosted a one-day International Workshop on "Innovate, Inspire, Impact: The Power of Project-Based Learning" as part of RKMV-PSU Partnership on 7 November 2025, it was organized in collaboration with Pennsylvania State University (PSU), USA. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Prof. Mahavir Singh was the Chief Guest and HPU’s DSW Sh. V. K. Shivram and HPU Dean Planning Sh. Joginder Singh Diman were the Guest of Honours. The event featured PSU representatives Dr. Vasu Singh, Dr. Anna Marshall and Dr. Tina Q. Richardson, who were also the Guest Speakers in the workshop. Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena highlighted the significance of international partnerships and shared the progress achieved under the PSU; RKMV MoU. In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahavir Singh emphasised the value of collaborative learning and invited RKMV to engage in joint research and training with HPU in the areas of green energy, disaster management and cyber security. Students of RKMV shared their experiences with project-based learning, illustrating how experiential education nurtures deeper understanding, confidence, analytical thinking and creative problem-solving. PSU delegates spoke about the journey, achievements and future possibilities of the PSU;RKMV collaboration, describing it as an important step toward innovation and global academic engagement. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Dr. K. S. M. Chauhan, expressing gratitude to all guests and participants. The HP University Inter-College Taekwondo Championship (Men and Women) commenced on 6th November 2025 with a grand opening ceremony inaugurated by Sh. Harish Janartha, Hon’ble MLA (Shimla Urban), and graced by Ms. Uma Kaushal, Deputy Mayor, MC Shimla, along with other distinguished guests. Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the values of Taekwondo ;respect, perseverance, and self-control;that align with the institution's vision of holistic education. The Chief Guest encouraged students to embrace sportsmanship, discipline, and physical fitness before declaring the championship open. The event saw spirited participation from 22 colleges and 127 students across Himachal Pradesh, showcasing grit, determination, and camaraderie amidst enthusiastic cheers. The championship concluded successfully on 7th October 2025 with a closing ceremony presided over by Padma Shri Ajay Thakur, DSP Una and a renowned Kabaddi player. Dr. Saxena lauded his achievements and urged students to pursue their passions with discipline and dedication. In his address, Ajay Thakur advised students to value time, choose friends with shared goals, dream big, and use mobile phones wisely. The ceremony culminated with the distribution of prizes and medals to the winners, celebrated in the presence of dignitaries, technical officials, and observers, marking the event as a memorable success.
The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of RKMV, in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Regional Office, Shimla, organised a Financial Awareness Campaign in the college on 3rd November 2025. The programme aimed to promote financial literacy among students and enable them to make informed financial decisions. Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal of the college, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She said that such sessions empower young minds to make informed financial decisions, protect themselves and be responsible citizens. She further appreciated the efforts of RBI for strengthening students' future and their contribution towards making India's economy healthy. The RBI officials conducted informative and interactive sessions with the students: Mr. Rahul Joshi delivered a session on Financial Literacy, Ms. Sheenam spoke about the RBI Internship Programme and Mr. Yash explained the Grievance Redressal Mechanism in Banks. The campaign proved highly beneficial as students gained valuable insights into responsible financial behaviour, career opportunities in RBI, and customer rights in the banking sector.
The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Department of B.Voc (Retail Management), RKMV Shimla, successfully organized a Project-Based Learning (PBL) Presentation Session in Room No. 12 from 11:00 AM onwards. The event aimed to promote interdisciplinary and experiential learning by encouraging students to work collaboratively on real-world projects that integrate academic knowledge with practical application. A total of five groups, comprising students from B.Com 3rd Year and B.Voc 3rd Year, presented innovative and research-oriented projects on contemporary themes such as Cultural Entrepreneurship, Women Entrepreneurship, and Case Studies from the business and retail sectors. The project titles were as follows: -> Group 1: Roommania (Room Finder Website) -> Group 2: Campus Connect (College Website Link) -> Group 3: A Comparative Study on Local Vendors and Chain Stores – A Consumer Preference Perspective ->Group 4: A Case Study on Himachali Raso ->Group 5: Women Entrepreneurship in and Around Shimla – Five Women Entrepreneurs The session was graced by Dr. Anurita Saxena, Principal, RKMV Shimla, as the Chief Guest.
